THE END OF CAMPERVANS IN GREECE?
Alternative escapes across Greece and how to bring the spirit of boho style into your home
Recent legal changes and their impact
With the passing of Law 5170/2025, significant changes were introduced regarding the use and parking of campervans in Greece. According to Article 27 of the law:
"The parking or overnight stay of tents and campervans – whether motorized or towed – is strictly prohibited in any public space, including beaches, parks, forest areas, and even parking lots."
Furthermore, according to Article 34 of the Road Traffic Code:
"In residential areas, the parking of trailers, campervans, and boats is prohibited beyond 24 consecutive hours. Such vehicles may be parked only in designated fenced areas defined by the relevant municipalities or communities."
These provisions have sparked strong reactions from enthusiasts of campervan tourism, as they significantly restrict the ability to freely park and stay in such vehicles for those seeking freedom in their travels.
Alternative escapes with the same spirit
Despite the restrictions, there are alternative vacation styles that preserve the spirit of freedom and connection with nature:
- Glamping: Luxurious tents and wooden cabins in nature that offer comfort without losing touch with the natural environment.
- Traditional lodgings in remote villages: Homes with history and character, offering tranquility and authenticity.
- Renovated country houses: Simple homes with Mediterranean aesthetics that echo the simplicity of campervans, but with added comfort and personal style.
- Fixed base, flexible excursions: Rent a vacation home and take daily trips into the surrounding nature—without the legal hassle.
The nomadic spirit at home: Bohemian Mediterranean aesthetic
While the campervan may now be limited by this legislation, the sense of simplicity, laid-back warmth, and closeness to nature we seek can still be achieved—right within our home or holiday house. Enter the Mediterranean boho style: a decor approach combining natural materials, neutral tones, traditional craftsmanship, and modern comfort.
At LEFKO you’ll find curated items that bring this philosophy into your space:
